GHRP-2 (pralmorelin) is a synthetic hexapeptide that acts at the growth hormone secretagogue receptor, the receptor whose natural ligand is ghrelin. This listing is a preloaded autoinjector pen holding 10 mg of GHRP-2 already in solution in a 3 mL cartridge, so there is no powder to dissolve. Research on GHRP-2 covers growth hormone release, its use in testing pituitary reserve and its effects on appetite, most of it from small human studies.
What is in the pen
The listing gives the contents as 10 mg of GHRP-2 in a 3 mL cartridge. The peptide is the same six-residue sequence sold freeze-dried in the GHRP-2 10 mg vial, H-D-Ala-D-2-Nal-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2 with a C-terminal amide and a theoretical mass of 818.0 Da, which puts the pen's 10 mg at about 12.2 µmol.
The safety data sheet for GHRP-2 in solution, written for the nasal spray, gives storage at 2 to 8 °C, protected from light and never frozen. For the general differences between a ready-made solution and dry powder, see peptide pen vs vial.
What the research covers
GHRP-2 descends from an earlier hexapeptide, His-D-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH2 (now called GHRP-6), which Bowers and colleagues described in 19841. That peptide released growth hormone from pituitary tissue in vitro and in rats, monkeys, lambs and calves without releasing LH, FSH, TSH or prolactin, and somatostatin blocked its effect1. GHRP-2 shares its last four residues. The receptor the class acts on was cloned twelve years later from pig and human pituitary and hypothalamus, a G protein-coupled receptor the authors tied to the pulsatile release of growth hormone2.
Effects beyond growth hormone have been recorded in people. In a 12-month study of ten prepubertal children with growth hormone deficiency, seven reported an increase in appetite during the first six months; body mass index tended upward, but the change was not statistically significant, and the authors described the appetite effect as transient3.
None of the cited work used a ready-made solution, and none of the abstracts reports how long GHRP-2 stays intact in water. The diagnostic, pharmacokinetic and food intake studies are summarised on the GHRP-2 10 mg vial page, and the GHRP-2 vs GHRP-6 guide compares the two related peptides.
Frequently asked questions
How does the pen differ from the GHRP-2 vials?
The vials hold freeze-dried GHRP-2 that is kept at −20 °C and dissolved in the lab when needed, at whatever concentration the work calls for. The pen holds 10 mg already in solution in a 3 mL cartridge, so the concentration is fixed and the peptide spends its whole shelf life in liquid.
How should the pen be stored?
Cold and dark: 2 to 8 °C, away from light, and never frozen.
