The GLOW pen carries the three peptides of the GLOW blend, GHK-Cu, BPC-157 and full-length thymosin beta-4 (TB-500), as a ready-made solution: 3 mL at 50 mg/mL total, 150 mg in the pen. Its proportions follow the 70 mg vial. Research on GLOW is research on its parts: the copper complex in fibroblast cultures, BPC-157 in rat and endothelial cell studies, and thymosin beta-4 in actin biology.

What is in the pen

The safety data sheet for this pen lists GHK-Cu at 107 mg (3.6% w/v), BPC-157 at 21.4 mg (0.71% w/v) and TB-500 at 21.4 mg (0.71% w/v) per 3 mL pen. That is 150 mg in all and the 5:1:1 mass ratio of the GLOW 70 mg vial, not the 7:1:2 ratio of GLOW 50 mg. The peptides are dissolved in bacteriostatic water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which the sheet classifies as harmful if swallowed or inhaled, an eye irritant and a skin sensitiser; the three peptides are not classified. The copper complex makes the solution clear blue to blue-violet.

Store the pen at 2 to 8 °C in its original carton, protected from light, and keep it capped once in use. Never freeze it. A pen whose solution has frozen, discoloured or clouded should be thrown away.

What the research covers

None of the published work on these peptides used them together. GHK-Cu, the largest component, is a plasma tripeptide whose copper complex has been reported to increase collagen, elastin and glycosaminoglycan synthesis and to support repair in skin, bone, liver and other tissues, according to a 2018 review by Pickart and Margolina1. BPC-157 has been tied to blood vessel growth: it raised VEGFR2 expression and switched on VEGFR2-Akt-eNOS signalling in human endothelial cells, and blood flow returned sooner in rat ischemic muscle2. The same study found more vessels forming in chick embryo membranes and in endothelial tube assays2. Thymosin beta-4 is the main peptide that sequesters G-actin inside cells, where each molecule holds a single actin monomer back from filaments until the cell draws on that reserve3. Outside cells it has been found in plasma and wound fluid, though the mechanisms of its extracellular effects were unknown when Huff's group reviewed them3.

Frequently asked questions

Does the pen use the GLOW 70 mg or GLOW 50 mg ratio?

The 70 mg ratio. The safety data sheet gives 107 mg GHK-Cu and 21.4 mg each of BPC-157 and TB-500 per pen, which is 5:1:1 by mass. The GLOW 50 mg vial uses a different 7:1:2 ratio and has no pen equivalent.

How long is the solution stable?

No published study has measured the stability of these three peptides together in solution. Follow the safety data sheet: keep the pen at 2 to 8 °C, away from light and unfrozen, and discard it if the solution freezes, changes colour or turns cloudy.
